Maureen Getty, DVM

Dr. Maureen Getty is originally from the suburbs of Chicago but was brought to the Pacific Northwest by her love of the area. Always fascinated by science and puzzles but with a need to help people and animals, Dr. Getty found veterinary medicine to be the perfect field to combine all these things. She studied veterinary medicine at the University of Illinois, then completed a small animal rotating internship at Seattle Veterinary Specialists in Kirkland, Washington. She returned to Illinois to be with her family during her first 7 years of general practice then jumped when the opportunity came up to move to Portland. She was joined this time by her husband and son, along with their dog – Appa and cat – Cynder.

Dr. Getty joined Heartfelt Veterinary Hospital in September 2024 and is a low-stress, feline friendly practitioner. She has special interests in ophthalmology, internal medicine, and supporting the human-animal bond. Making a team with her clients to provide tailored care for their pets is especially important to her. She can frequently be found with her nose in a book, whether that be the latest journal or the next best-seller. On nice days, she also enjoys hiking along with exploring new places and foods.
